Eagle’s Nest Hiking Tour
The tour starts at 9:00 every day.
This is what our Eagle’s Nest Hike Tour is about:
To turn yourself into an explorer right away while providing you with excellent guidance!
Join us on this exclusive hiking tour to experience a trip of a lifetime. Venture into the mountains of Berchtesgaden just in the border between Austria and Germany in the middle of the Bavarian Alps for incredible trails, views, and secret WWII locations.
Our Eagle’s Nest tour is unique! You will hike with your guide, who will orientate you in the mountain every step of the way and show you places that the forest have eaten away since 1945. Moving on foot provide us with many advantages. You will hike thru hidden trails to discover places that are not accessible by bus that tell the story of WWII, as well you will be able to experience the true nature of the Alps with its fresh air and meadows and mountains.
The atmosphere of our hike tour is informal but at the same time professional. We want to ensure that you get the most out of your experience by providing you with something special, something beyond traditional mass tourism and that is the feeling that you are hiking with a friend and at the same time keep the highest safety standards. Your guide will give you helpful tips along the hike and make sure you have a great overview of the area so that at the end you will know Berchtesgaden better than most people. Your guide will as well make sure to set up a comfortable pace up the hill and have great breaks with amazing views. We will gain 800 meters of altitude, on average we cover 400 meters an hour giving us total of a two-hour hike to the top. A good rule of thumb to make sure you are good to go is if you exercise regularly or if you can walk over 12.000 steps a day. That way we can ensure you will enjoy the most out of the hike.
The area is so rich in many aspects! It is full of both, history and natural beauty thanks to the imposing landscapes of the Bavarian Alps. Unfortunately most people visiting Berchtesgaden and the Kehlsteinhaus miss on so many interesting places and the opportunity to hike there which is more satisfying. We take you from the beautiful city of Salzburg to Berchtesgaden with an expert guide and a perfect itinerary so you can take the most out of your time there. Our hike tour will give you fast access to all the places since our route is designed to avoid any cues or lines (in the high season people can wait for up two hours to get to the Eagle’s Nest and its one of the main complains you find people make on Tripadvisor).
Join us to rediscover hidden locations in the forest that tell the story of WWII in a unique way, for example, visit the remains of Hitler’s house and several other secret locations. Then our hike up incredible trails to the Kehlsteinhaus at imposing 1848 meters above sea level, Hitler’s personal mountain retreat later renamed as the famous Eagle’s Nest by the American troops stationed there. The whole place was the heart of the Third Reich and it was built for two purposes, one, to be an Alpine fortress and the other, to impress. Ride with us down the mountain using a huge brass elevator down the mountain 124 meters in 40 seconds inside the mountain.
Follow your guide for a day full of adventure from Salzburg into Obersalzberg to discover stunning views, historic locations, and buildings of World War II. Learn more about this chapter of human history in our special Eagle’s Nest Tour.
